SfNIRS Board Elections 2024

Nominations requested for the President-elect and the Board of Directors of the Society for functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (SfNIRS)

The members of the SfNIRS elect a new President-elect and ten (10) new members of the Board of Directors. The Nomination Committee (Ilias Tachtsidis, Yasuyo Minagawa, Martin Wolf and Stefan Carp) announces an official Call for Nominations for these open positions as described below.

Please be reminded that only SfNIRS members may elect or be elected.

Candidate applications will be shared with the SfNIRS members and an online voting process will take place to democratically select the President-elect and the Board of Directors members.

The deadline for applications is: 13th of May 2024 by 17:00 [Eastern Standard Time (EST)]

President Elect

The newly elected President-elect will be President-elect for two years, President for two years and past-President for another two years (total 6 years of service to the society).

Apply for the position and lead\support the growth of our society and shape the society’s future. As president you will be expected to lead the executive board and board of directors; and you will be the official spokesperson of the fNIRS Society. For further information about this role see the society by-laws.

Candidates\Applicants should be a member of the fNIRS society, and they can complete an online application form below by 13th of May 2024 17:00 [Eastern Standard Time (EST)]. President elect candidates should also secure endorsement from two current SfNIRS Board of Directors members or officers.

NOTE: SfNIRS Board of Directors members or officers can only endorse one candidate per election.

Board of Directors

The members of the Board of Directors are expected to manage the affairs and activities of the SfNIRS in general, they need to take part in the BoD meetings and be active in and heading committees. Each member of the Board of Directors will normally serve a term of four years for not more than two consecutive terms. In order, to reflect the diversity of the membership worldwide, we will maintain the regional balance among the Board of Directors: for the term of 2024-2028, four members will be allocated for Europe including Africa, another three for America (North, Central and South), and the other three for Asia including Oceania.

Election procedure

Election of the President-elect and the Board of Directors will be executed electronically during Summer 2024. Upon approval by the current Board of Directors, the result of the election will be announced at the 2024 fNIRS conference (to be held in Birmingham, UK). Note that the top candidates within each region will be appointed to the Board of Directors.
