Description: The Post-Doctoral Associate will participate in monitoring studies in the Neuro-ICU (e.g. research under the NIH grant R01 NS082309-01A1: DETECTION OF CEREBRAL ISCHEMIA WITH A NONINVASIVE NEUROMETABOLIC OPTICAL MONITOR). Important post-doc contributions include development and utilization of software and hardware related to data acquisition, analysis, storage of physiologic signals, and processing of medical information/data. This work will entail having or developing familiarity with electronic medical records and databases and various neuromonitoring devices including intracranial pressure, microdialysis, cerebral blood flow, EEG, and PbO2; further, integration of the outputs of such monitors with spectroscopic and flow optical data from research devices will be needed. The post-doc will be expected to participate in the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of data, and will be intimately involved in presentations and publications that may follow. He/she will supervise and monitor information technology and database assistants and will interact with patients,families, graduate students, fellows, and research nurses.
Qualifications: PhD in a relevant discipline such as physics, computational biology, neurophysiology, computer science, or bioengineering. It would be preferable for applicants to have experience which will bring capabilities in computer and IT hardware and software, database development and management, and neurophysiology.

Post-doctoral researcher in cognitive neuroscience Department of Developmental and Social Psychology University of Padova, Italy
A post-doc position is available in the Department of Developmental Psychology (University of Padova, ITALY) for studying the development of attention from birth to adulthood with functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and event related potentials (ERP). This job represents a unique opportunity for a post-doc eager to work with infants, children and adults together with a good team of psychologists and fNIRS experts. The post-doc will have full access to the instrumentation (ISS Imagent) and will be involved in every part of the project, from the preparation of the acquisition/paradigm to the interpretation of the results. The candidate will also have the opportunity to develop his/her own research interests in collaboration with the other members of the fNIRS lab. We are looking for a candidate with a solid experience in fNIRS data acquisition, ideally with a background in psychology/neuroscience. Advanced knowledge of MATLAB and fNIRS data analysis is recommended but not mandatory. A PhD in any of the fNIRS related fields (psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, physics, computer science) is required. The position is for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal. The salary can vary between ~23000 and ~25000 € per year (the cost of living in Padova is pretty moderate: the rent is around 300-400 euro a month for 1 bedroom apartment in the downtown). The starting of the position can be flexible, between December 2014 and April 2015. Padova is a lovely University town and Padova University is one of the best Universities in Italy according to a recent ranking score.

Center of Human Growth and Development at the University of Michigan is seeking applicants for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to assist in non-invasive brain imaging research using functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS; optical imaging method). The researcher will have a unique opportunity to develop and pursue their own research interests in collaboration with the Center’s faculty and fNIRS laboratory members, whose research interests span a broad variety of questions in neuroscience, psychology, pediatrics, and biomedical engineering. The researcher’s primary responsibility will be to assist the Center in the development of theory, methods and analytical approaches in the study of child brain development, using fNIRS brain imaging.
Applicants should have a background in signals and systems, biological recording, or prior experience using fNIRS or other related non-invasive brain imaging methods (EEG/fMRI/MEG). The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in radiology, neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, optical physics, or related fields.
This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The start date for this appointment is flexible (July 1, 2012 or earlier preferred). Post-doctoral Fellow Wanted For Child Neuroimaging Center at the University of Iowa
The Delta Center at the University of Iowa is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to participate in research at the CHild Imaging Laboratory in Developmental Science (CHILDS; http://www.uiowa.edu/delta-center/research/facilities.html). CHILDS is equipped with a 24-channel Near-infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) system, as well as multiple supportive technologies including two eye-tracking systems, stereo touch-screen display, and motion-tracking systems. The post-doctoral fellow will work with Drs. Larissa Samuelson and John P. Spencer on a NSF-funded project investigating the development of executive function in young children using fNIRS. In addition, the fellow will work on several projects involving simultaneous fNIRS and fMRI using the Siemens Trio 3T scanner at the Magnetic Resonance Research Facility at the University of Iowa (https://mri.radiology.uiowa.edu/about_facility.html).

The Center for Pain and the Brain invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship position from individuals holding a PhD in neuroscience, physics or related field. We are seeking a candidate with experience in brain measurements using NIRS. The candidate should have solid experience performing NIRS data acquisition and extensive experience analyzing NIRS data. Strong communication skills in written and verbal English is necessary. The fellow will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on a series of on-going studies that involve pain measurements in healthy awake subjects, under anesthesia, and with analgesics. The post-doctoral fellow’s appointment will be at Children’s Hospital Boston with involvement in studies that will be conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital. Salary is commensurate with candidate’s experience and Children’s Hospital guidelines. The position is initially for one-year with the possibility of a second year extension.
